RITHS® Academic Governance

Institute Policies & Academic Governance

RITHS® qualifications strictly adhere to the regulatory frameworks established by the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), Ofqual, SCQF, and university agreements.

⚖️

Academic Integrity & Anti-Plagiarism Policy

RITHS® maintains a strict zero-tolerance approach toward academic dishonesty, including plagiarism, unauthorized AI-generated submissions without citation, collusion, and contract cheating. All diploma coursework and project assessments must be the authentic, original work of the candidate.

Key Compliance Regulations:

  • Turnitin Plagiarism Verification: Every student submission is checked using Turnitin. Similarity scores above acceptable reference limits (typically >15% excluding bibliographies) trigger academic review.
  • Harvard Referencing System: All academic sources, journals, textbooks, and online citations must strictly adhere to the Harvard Referencing format.
  • AI Usage Transparency: Use of generative AI tools for writing entire assessments without prior academic declaration is classified as academic misconduct.

Penalties for verified academic misconduct range from mandatory resubmission with grade caps (capped at Pass) to formal referral to the Academic Board and termination of student registration.

📊

Assessment, Grading & Internal Verification (IV)

Assessments in our UK Level 4, 5, and 7 qualifications are criterion-referenced against national learning outcomes set by NCC Education, EduQual, and ATHE under UK Ofqual and Scottish SCQF guidelines.

Pass (40% - 59%) Meets all standard unit learning outcomes and basic assessment criteria.
Merit (60% - 69%) Demonstrates analytical depth, comprehensive application, and critical reasoning.
Distinction (70% - 100%) Exceptional critical synthesis, innovative problem solving, and rigorous presentation.

All marked assignments undergo blind second-marking by an Internal Verifier (IV) followed by external auditing by British External Examiners before official diploma certification is released.

📜

Academic Appeals & Student Grievance Procedure

Students have the statutory right to appeal academic marks or progression decisions if they believe there was procedural irregularity, bias, or unconsidered extenuating circumstances.

Stage 1: Informal Query

Direct discussion with the unit assessor within 7 working days of grade release to review constructive feedback.

Stage 2: Formal Internal Review

Submission of a formal Academic Appeal Form to the Lead Internal Verifier and Academic Dean within 14 calendar days.

Stage 3: Awarding Body Escalation

If unsatisfied with the internal appeal, the student may escalate the matter directly to the UK awarding body (NCC Education or EduQual).
